Accommodation from private persons

If you decide to book accommodation for a European holiday from a private person, bear in mind that the consumer protection provisions will not apply and the European Consumer Centre cannot help resolve the matter. It is also a good idea to conclude a written agreement also with a private individual. This information should be recorded in the contract:

details of accommodation, whether it is an apartment or a house, and where it is located
name, address and other contact channels of the lessor
date and time when the rental starts and ends
specific wishes that have been agreed upon
total price and terms of payment
detailed itemisation of services and everything included in the rent (e.g., swimming pool, mowing, heat, water costs, linen etc.)
possibility to cancel the reservation, and terms of cancellation
