European Consumer Centre to participate in Europe Day event at Oodi on 7 May

Europe Day, the celebration of European unity, will be celebrated this year on Saturday 4 May at Narinkkatori, Helsinki and on Tuesday 7 May at Helsinki Central Library Oodi. Come and meet the experts from the ECC Finland at its stand in Oodi entrance hall on 7 May from 9.00 to 16.30 and get information on consumer protection in online shopping and air passenger rights!

On Tuesday 7 May, there will be stands of different organisations in Oodi entrance hall, where you can find out more about their activities and pick up information and other material to take with you. In addition to the European Consumer Centre, stands will also include those of Europe Information and the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities. The EU@Oodi information point, run by the European Commission and the Parliament Representations in Finland, is also located on the entrance floor of Oodi, where you can find information about the European Union and its activities.

At the European Consumer Centre’s stand, we have put together basic information on consumer protection for online shopping and air travel in compact brochures, as well as sweets and luggage labels, while stocks last. For more information on EU consumer rights and our free service for cross-border consumer advisory services and mediation, visit our website ecc.fi/en.

On Tuesday 7 May, the 3rd floor of the Oodi will host a morning-to-evening programme of discussions on Finland, Europe, the European Union and the upcoming EU elections. The programme will start at 8.30. The debate will be streamed on the Europe Day website, so you can also follow it online.

The Europe Day events on 4 and 7 May are being organised by the European Commission Representation in Finland, the European Parliament Office in Finland, the Europe Information Office of the Prime Minister’s Office, the European Youth Association and the European Movement in Finland.

Admission to the events is free.

This year, the actual Europe Day on 9 May will fall on Ascension Day.  Europe Day is celebrated both in Finland and in all other European countries.
