Refund or rerouting
If a coach trip of at least 250 kilometres is cancelled or delayed by more than two hours, you can ask for the coach company to either refund the cost of your ticket or to reroute you. If you choose a refund, you can ask for your money back for each cancelled leg of the journey as well as for any legs that you have already travelled that no longer serve a purpose in terms of your travel plan. If necessary, coach companies have an obligation to arrange for coach transport back to where you started your trip as quickly as possible and free of charge. If you want to continue your trip, the coach company has an obligation to reroute you to your final destination on the agreed terms as soon as possible and without any additional charges.
If these alternatives are not immediately forthcoming, you can file a complaint later and ask for a refund on the cost of your ticket as well as compensation amounting to 50% of the ticket price. In the case of season tickets, the refund must be proportional to the journey relative to the full price of the ticket.
If you have incurred losses as a result of a delay or cancellation, you may be entitled to damages. The right to damages is governed by national law.
