Shop opening hours will be deregulated at the start of the year on 1st January 2016. Business owners in Finland will have more freedom than previously to decide on opening hours of their shops. Small business owners with premises in shopping centres will still have the right to keep their shops closed one day each week.
The reform is expected to improve the competitiveness of traditional shops in relation to online shops. Also the ability of business owners to offer more hours to employees and employ more employees is expected to improve. Consumers will benefit by being able to shop when it's convenient for them
