Europe Day, the celebration of European unity, will this year be marked on Friday 8 May with a ceremonial seminar at Helsinki Central Library Oodi, and on Saturday 9 May with a popular Europe Day celebration in Lahti. You can find the European Consumer Centre’s stand at the Eurooppatori area in Oodi’s main hall on Friday 8 May from 11:00 to 17:00.
Experts from the European Consumer Centre will be at the stand to share information on EU consumer rights, such as consumer protection for online purchases and air passenger rights. Drop by for advice or to pick up useful information! Small promotional items will also be available at the stand while supplies last.
In Oodi’s main hall you will also find the EU@Oodi info point, which presents the European Union and its activities.
The ceremonial seminar on Oodi’s 3rd floor will discuss Europe’s independence in a turbulent world, Finland’s role, and the EU’s future financial framework, with leading politicians and top experts.
In Lahti, Europe Day will be celebrated outdoors at Lahti Market Square on 9 May from 13:00 to 18:00. The day’s programme includes topical EU-related discussions, music and other activities for the whole family.
The events are free and open to everyone, and no prior registration is required.
Europe Day is celebrated annually on 9 May in all EU countries in honour of European peace and unity.
Welcome to visit our stand — and happy Europe Day!
