Europe Day – the celebration of European unity – will be marked this year on Friday 9 May 2025 with a commemorative seminar at Helsinki Central Library Oodi. The festivities will continue on Saturday 10 May with a public event at Central Square in Tampere, where Finland’s 30 years of EU membership will also be celebrated.
The European Consumer Centre Finland will have an information stand in the entrance hall of Oodi on 9 May from 11:00 to 17:00. At our stand, you can get information about consumer protection in online shopping and air passenger rights. The fastest visitors can also pick up a luggage tag and a snack bar to take along for their summer trip.
The seminar at Oodi will feature topical discussions on the future of European security, opportunities for Finns in EU careers, the development of a healthier digital environment, and the green transition. The seminar programme will be held on the third floor, while the first-floor stand area offers the opportunity to learn more about the European Consumer Centre and many other organisations – such as the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The EU@Oodi information point, located on the ground floor, will also provide insights into EU activities.

The events in Helsinki and Tampere are free of charge and open to everyone – no advance registration is required. The seminar at Oodi on 9 May will also be streamed online and can be followed via the Europe Day website.
Europe Day is celebrated in Finland and across all European countries. In Finland, the celebrations are organised by the European Movement in Finland, the European Commission Representation in Finland, the European Parliament Office in Finland, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Young European Federalists in Finland, and Helsinki Central Library Oodi.
Welcome to our stand – and Happy Europe Day!
