The European Commission has launched the spring DiscoverEU application round. The application period closes on 22 April 2026 at 13:00 (Finnish time). DiscoverEU offers young people born between 1 July 2007 (included) and 30 June 2008 (included) the opportunity to apply for a free travel pass, allowing them to explore Europe between 1 July 2026 and 30 September 2027, primarily by train and other environmentally friendly means of transport.
Applications are submitted via the European Youth Portal, where applicants must participate in a short EU-related quiz (unless applying as a group member). Young people can also apply in a group of up to 4 people, provided all members meet the eligibility conditions and use the same application code.
If selected, participants can travel for up to 7 travel days within a period of maximum one month during the authorised travel period. They will also receive a DiscoverEU discount card, offering discounts on accommodation, culture, sports, local transport and other services across Europe.
Eligibility conditions
To be eligible, applicants must:
- be born between 1 July 2007 (included) and 30 June 2008 (included)
- reside in an EU Member State or a third country associated to the Erasmus+ programme (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia, Serbia or Türkiye).
Applicants with a disability or health condition that makes travel challenging will receive assistance and support. Selected participants may also receive help with travel planning and finding travel companions.
